At McKenna Kennels Pet Resort, we treat your precious pets as our own. Our company has been family owned and operated since 1933, so you can trust that we know how to make sure your pets are safe and happy while they are with us. We know it can be a difficult time for you and your pet to be away from each other, but we assure you that we keep your furry family members occupied and feeling loved.
**Important:
For all of our fur guest safety we require all dogs to be up to date on their vaccinations which include: Distemper, Rabies, and Bordetella. Leptosporosis is recommended but not required.
Puppies have to be at least 16 weeks with proof of their complete puppy series vaccinations.
There are no exceptions to this rule in order to protect your dog and the rest of our guests.
At McKenna Kennels Pet Resort, as pet owners ourselves, we understand it takes a lot of trust to leave your furry family member in the hands of someone else. Don't let that stop you from taking that vacation or going to see your family for the weekend. You have no need to worry about your pup while they are staying with us. You can rest assured that with our level of care and the quality of our dog boarding facilities in Roy, Washington, they will be happy and comfortable.

Do you spend all day at the office feeling bad that your pup is stuck inside at home or in their crate? Bring your furry friend to us for the day and let him/her get out some energy while you are at work. McKenna Kennels, has seen amazing transformations in dogs from spending days here with us in doggy daycare. Some have started out very timid and not wanting to socialize with the other dogs, to now not wanting to leave because they have made friends with the other dogs here! It is a great experience for your dog and so worth it to see how much fun they are having while you can't be with them.

McKenna Kennels has an outstanding training facility that consists of 110 acres, and 5 separate training ponds. All training is conducted using live and freshly shot mallard ducks, ring neck pheasants and pigeons. Live birds are planted for gun dogs learning to quarter. Birds are used exclusively on all marking set ups. Unlike some training programs that rely extensively on mechanical bumper throwers, McKenna Kennels utilizes human throwers for marking setups.
All of the dogs are fed Purina dog food that meets their individual need. We offer Senior, Puppy, Weight Management, Sensitive Skin all made by Purina.
McKenna Kennels spends the winter in Niland California, the premier winter training grounds on the west coast. The weather is ideal for dog training, with day time highs in the winter ranging from the mid 60s to the high 70s and night time low temperatures are in the 40s to 50s. These mild temperatures create an ideal climate to allow both land and water work to continue all winter. The winter trip runs November through March. Of course this is weather dependent, the trip may start earlier or later depending on the weather in either location, with the goal being to optimize the training for the dogs. Only a limited number of dogs are accepted for the winter trip, ensuring that each dog receives plenty of individualized training. A winter trip fee does apply .
McKenna Kennels has two outstanding training facilities. The summer facilities are located in McKenna Washington and the winter grounds are located in Niland California. Both locations are in prime dog training territory, with hundreds of acres of specially developed retriever training grounds complete with natural and technical training ponds. With full size kennel runs at both locations. Over the last few years, these grounds have produced four National field champions.By utilizing both summer and winter grounds, dogs can be worked on land and water year round, maintaining them in top condition. Trials are ran in both locations, extending the trial season a potential of 12 months out of the year.
